Don't be such a twat, it's done tongue in cheek!

If you can compose a song that celebrates us being the 2nd team to win a European trophy, please post it here and maybe we will start singing it!

We won the World Cup. Deal with it.

Re: West Ham did not really win the 1966 World Cup
Of course we won it for England but West Ham won the world cup in 1966

Not even up for debate. To state otherwise is simply denying what is common knowledge

Bleating on about that stadium is more embarrassing for me.

"SECOND EVER CLUB TO WIN A EUROPEAN TROPHY (after Spurs) is the one I punt out "
And you think the World Cup one is embarrassing.
Do one mate.

Of course we won it 1985 you Spurs loving prick. Now you admit you're wrong and be let back into the Irons family or continue with your insane rantings and be ostracised forever.

I absolutely love the fact we won the World Cup, and bring it up at every possible opportunity.

Re: West Ham did not really win the 1966 World Cup
Nothing embarrassing about winning the World Cup especially in an era when it was about playing football and not feigning injury, cheating and earning peanuts.

No doubt the heavy West Ham influence both in players contribution and their playing style won the World Cup.

Bollocks - I'll say what I like.

West Ham WON the 1966 World Cup

Re: West Ham did not really win the 1966 World Cup
I understood Greaves injury was a gash on his shin and that he was fit again for the final.
Would have been easy for Ramsey to bring him back and imagine he would have got some stick if England had lost.
And maybe Geoff Hurst would have become an alcoholic

Re: West Ham did not really win the 1966 World Cup
England would never have won the WC in 1966 without the West Ham contingent

West Ham players scored ALL the goals in the semi-final & final

Apart from that, England were superbly captained, inspired & influenced by one of the best players (& captains) in the World at that period of time

I say it because it really does get cunts who support other teams spitting feathers.
I enjoy that.

Re: West Ham did not really win the 1966 World Cup
West Ham maybe didn't win the World Cup for England but almost certainly without those players from West Ham England probably wouldn't have won the World Cup!

It's not so much that Moore, Hurst and Peters played but that the goals as someone has already said came straight off the Chadwell Heath training field.

Must say that Martin Tyler documentary earlier this week on the World Cup win was an enjoyable piece of television. I didn't know that Greavsie was pretty badly injured in the third game and probably wasn't fit for the Final anyway. For years I had assumed that Ramsey had a real choice to make between Greaves and Hurst.

Well perhaps that proves the original post.

It still is a remarkable achievement though.
As much as it must grate with fans of General Franco's old team.

I presume they would regard it as Catalonia having won the World Cup and sing about that.
It is remarkable that every goal in the tournament was scored by players from one club.
